We are recruiting for a qualified and experienced Maintenance Electrician to support the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems across the estate. This role is essential to maintaining the integrity of our infrastructure and delivering high-quality service to staff, students, and visitors.Role OverviewThe Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, installations, and testing. The role involves working across a diverse range of buildings and systems, ensuringpliance with statutory regulations and health and safety standards.Key Responsibilities
1. Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding, and repairs on electrical systems and equipment.
2. Carry out inspections, testing, and surveys in accordance with BS 7671 and other relevant standards.
3. Install, replace, andmission electricalponents and systems.
4. Respond to reactive maintenance requests and ensure safe resolution of faults.
5. Use CAFM systems to manage workload, record tasks, andmunicate progress.
6. Collaborate with other trades, contractors, and building users to ensure smooth operations.
7. Support apprentices and contribute to team development.
Person SpecificationEssential:
8. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in electrical installation or maintenance.
9. BS 7671 certification.
10. Proven experience in fault diagnosis and repair using technical documentation and diagnostic tools.
11. Strong understanding of electrical safety regulations and buildingpliance.
12. Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively.
13. Goodmunication and customer service skills.
14. Full UK driving licence.
15. Willingness to participate in out-of-hours and on-call work.
Desirable:
16. Experience using CAFM systems.
17. Experience mentoring apprentices or junior staff.
Working EnvironmentWork will be carried out in various locations, including plant rooms, switch rooms, ducts, and rooftops. Appropriate PPE and safety equipment will be provided. The role may involve working in confined spaces, at height, or in environments with heat, dust, or noise.
