Job Description & Summary
Our Belfast audit team is focused on working with some of Northern Ireland’s largest and fastest growing businesses. We provide audit and other assurance services to fast‑growing, dynamic and established sectors, including Retail and Consumer, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Hospitality, Technology, Information & Communications, and Entertainment. We are seeking a Senior Manager to join the Belfast office.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Liaison with the engagement leader, keeping them informed of issues.
* Ensure that all jobs and fees are included in staff requisitions by liaising with other managers and/or administrators.
* Review staff allocation and compare with the original requisition and budgeted fees.
* Agree a timetable with the administrator and individual managers.
* Determine if PwC staff need training on the administrator systems and arrange as needed.
* Organise and review work, delegating as agreed with the engagement leader.
* Allocate costs timely, informing managers of the basis of allocation before costs hit codes.
* Monitor the status of jobs as client timings or staff allocations change.
* Attend manager meetings.
* Discuss workload with staff promptly.
Individual Responsibilities
* Review client audit files from planning through to completion, ensuring compliance with firm methodology.
* Conduct engagement assessments.
* Budget and determine resource requirements.
* Organise partner and QRP meetings for planning and completion.
* Draft board reports, engagement letters and audit representation letters.
* Develop client relationships.
* Coordinate cross‑fund planning with lead manager.
* Inform lead manager of changes in staff/timing requirements.
* Appraise staff members.
* Assume a coaching performance‑management role aligned with Connected Thinking.
* Network within the local business community.
* Prepare and deliver competitive audit proposals.
* Participate in graduate‑level recruitment activities.
Experience / Education Required
* At least 8 years of practice accounting experience in a Big 4 or other international accounting firm.
* Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent from a recognised international institution.
* Detailed understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS.
Skills and Personal Qualities
* Solid track record of career achievements and academic excellence, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Commitment to exceptional client service and intellectual curiosity.
* Ability to interact with various levels of client and firm management.
* Detailed understanding of UK and Irish GAAP and GAAS.
* PCAOB and US GAAP experience desirable but not required.
* Excellent project‑management skills and ability to manage relationships at all levels.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a multitasked, fast‑paced, changing environment.
* Proven leadership, organisational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work on multiple engagements concurrently.
* Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build trusted relationships, including experience in business‑development activities.
