Day rate: £61 UMBRELLA per hour ( £48 PAYE)
Hybrid working: 2–3 days per week on site, plus attendance at 1–2 evening meetings per week
Are you an experienced senior leader in Adult Social Care, passionate about driving improvement and reshaping services for our communities? We are working with a local authority and are looking for a dynamic and strategic Assistant Director – Adult Social Care Services to join their leadership team and support delivery of high-quality, person-centred provision.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Executive Director for Adults, Health & Wellbeing, who holds the DASS statutory responsibilities, this pivotal role will deputise as Deputy DASS, assuming full statutory duties in their absence. You will provide confident leadership, strategic vision and operational oversight across a broad portfolio of adult social care services.

Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership across Adult Social Care, deputising for the Executive Director where required.
Lead the transformation and redesign of provider services to ensure quality, efficiency and improved service user experience.
Drive performance, compliance, safeguarding assurance and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with internal and external partners, including health, voluntary sector and community organisations.
Represent the service at senior leadership meetings and external forums, including evening meetings (1–2 weekly).
Ensure statutory duties and regulatory requirements are met, including when acting as Deputy DASS.About You We are looking for a highly experienced senior social care professional with:
A proven track record of leadership within Adult Social Care.
Strong experience in service redesign, commissioning or operational transformation.
Deep understanding of statutory frameworks, safeguarding and quality assurance.
The confidence and capability to undertake Deputy DASS responsibilities.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
