Main duties of the job
* Managing a large team of reception and administrative staff, with the support of deputies with different specialities.
* Rotas and annual leave planning to ensure optimum cover at all times.
* Training, learning and development of the reception/administrative team.
* Staff wellbeing and retention.
* Achieving great telephone response times.
* Ensuring task and letter workflows are streamlined and managed effectively.
* Participating in larger team meetings to engage and cascade relevant information to your team.
* Delivering excellent patient experience.
* Providing visible leadership and day‑to‑day operational oversight of administrative services.
* Ensuring administrative processes are streamlined, efficient, and aligned with practice priorities.
* Monitoring team performance, productivity, and service standards across reception and administration.
* Supporting deputies and team leaders to deliver consistent operational management within their specialist areas.
* Identifying opportunities for service improvement, digital transformation, and smarter ways of working.
* Maintaining high standards of communication, professionalism, and patient confidentiality.
* Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes where required.
* Ensuring practice policies, procedures, and compliance standards are consistently followed.
* Working collaboratively with the wider leadership team to support organisational objectives and operational resilience.

Qualifications
* GCSE A‑C in English and Maths
* Leadership
Experience
* At least 3 years experience leading a team of at least 5 people.
* Experience conducting learning and development sessions.
* Experience introducing change and new ways of working.
* Basic understanding of HR legislation and guidance.
* Experience working in a GP Practice.
