Responsibilities
* Perform maintenance tasks, including preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
* Perform continuous improvement activities
* Provide effective and efficient support to the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Team Leader and Engineering Team Coaches, completion of end of shift reports, fault logging and data entry
* Identify the root cause of automation breakdowns and prioritise corrective actions to meet operational processing requirements
* Monitor equipment performance and improve automation outputs in collaboration with operational stakeholders
* Identify and work on Continuous Improvement projects, conception to implementation ownership, for machinery in the Hub/ Mail Centre
Qualifications
* Qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
* First‑hand experience maintaining automation equipment
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to achieve common goals
* Full UK driving licence (occasionally required to travel to other sites)
Location & Salary
Mount Pleasant Mail Centre, Farringdon Road, London, EC1A 1BB.
Salary: £53,195 per annum, plus night shift allowance, 22.5 days annual leave with bank holidays, and a defined contribution pension scheme. Weekend supplement of £51 per Saturday attendance and £102 per Sunday attendance. Potential overall earnings including overtime and allowances can exceed £60,000 per annum. A welcome bonus of £1,500 may be available.
Payments are made in instalments and subject to terms and conditions.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern
The role is full‑time (40 hours per week) with a shift rotation system that includes early, late, night and weekend shifts. Typical shift times are: Early 06:00 – 15:00; Late 13:30 – 22:00; Night 21:00 – 07:00. Weekend shifts are all day Saturday 07:00 – 19:00 and Sunday 08:00 – 19:00. When not covering a shift you will be on days 06:00 – 15:00 Monday to Friday. Overtime is available most weeks.
