The Role

The post holder works as part of a team of qualified dental nurses and provides full surgery and administrative support to clinicians across Lanarkshire. Duties include chair/bedside, surgery and theatre clinical assistance and administrative support. The role involves working with a variety of clinicians and patients undergoing treatments such as examinations, restorations, extractions, surgical procedures, prosthodontic treatment, preventive treatments, x‑rays, orthodontic treatment, local anaesthetic, sedation (oral, inhalation or intravenous) and general anaesthetic.


What we’ll need you to bring

* Hold a nationally recognised Dental Nurse qualification.
* Be registered with the GDC for Dental Nurses.
* Have specialist theoretical knowledge and practical skills enabling you to work with clinicians and respond to emergencies.
* Experience working in a dental surgery, ideally in a multidisciplinary environment and across multiple branches of dentistry.
* Demonstrate that you can confidently assist the dentist with a full range of dental treatment.
* Commitment to continuing professional development and experience in clinical governance including audit.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
* Good reporting skills (verbal and written).
* Flexible, adaptable and self‑motivated with initiative.
* Ability to work within a team and follow protocols to meet agreed targets.
* Confidential handling of sensitive information and awareness of child protection, disability discrimination and the Adults with Incapacity Act.
* IT skills, including Microsoft Office and knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
* Manual handling skills.
* Driver’s licence (full UK/EU/EEA) and access to a car.
* CPR skills.


Contract type

Permanent, full‑time and part‑time options available. Salary will be pro‑rated for part‑time.


Location and working pattern

This role will be based in the Public Dental Service within Buchanan Centre. Working pattern is Monday to Friday.
