Due to promotion, an exciting opportunity has become available for a highly motivated and enthusiastic senior paediatric nurse to join our clinical team at Newham University Hospital; part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group.
This post is for a dedicated senior children’s nurse who is passionate about providing and developing excellent services for children and young people.
As Matron, in acute paediatric services, you will be accountable for coordinating safe, high quality, evidence based care to improve the experience for children, young people and their carers.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the nursing team caring for children and young people within the Women’s and Children’s Division. They will work closely with the ADON and other senior nursing and midwifery staff across both the Division at Newham Hospital and the Group wide Children’s Health Board.
The post holder will support the Governance agenda and work closely with their triumvirate colleagues, including service managers and clinical leads.

* To provide nursing leadership and accountability for the children and young people’s service
* To secure the highest standards of clinical care within the specific services within your remit over the 24-hour period by providing strong professional leadership and line management to clinical staff.
To assist in ensuring the delivery of equitable front line support mechanisms and services to users and carers that are person centered, risk managed and driven by national, organizational, divisional and Trust strategies in partnership with other agencies.
* Set clear expectations to support staff in delivering compassionate care, creating systems to ensure they remain connected to their own and the organisations core values.
* Matrons have overall management responsibility for their designated clinical areas providing clear, visible leadership to create a culture of compassion, creativity and candour which is truly committed to improving the service user experience at every step of their care pathway.
* To work with speciality lead consultants and service managers to drive forward quality, safety and ensure financially effective services.
* Work within the NHS Matrons charter for standards (2020).
* To deputise for the ADON as required.
