GCSE English or Maths Tutor (Outreach – Havering)
About the Role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and qualified GCSE English or Maths Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 education to students who are currently not in mainstream school. These tailored sessions are designed to re-engage young learners, build their confidence, and help them bridge gaps in their learning.
As an Outreach Tutor, you will:
1. Plan and deliver bespoke lessons tailored to individual student needs
2. Provide structured, engaging, and supportive sessions that boost progress and motivation
3. Help students re-establish a positive relationship with learning after time out of education
This is an ideal role for experienced teachers looking to move away from the traditional classroom setting in favour of a more flexible, student-focused approach.
Contract Details
4. Location: Various locations across Havering and surrounding areas
5. Position: 1:1 Outreach Tutor (English or Maths GCSE focus)
6. Contract Type: Temporary, with flexible hours
7. Start Date: ASAP
8. Duration: Varies depending on each student
9. Pay Rate: From £25 per hour
10. Hours: Sessions typically range from 1-3 hours
Requirements
11. Recognised UK teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE, or equivalent)
12. Minimum 6 months’ experience teaching in a UK school
13. Strong subject knowledge in either GCSE English or Maths
14. Recent safeguarding training (desirable but not essential – can be provided)
To be considered, you must:
15. Have the Right to Work in the UK
16. Hold (or be willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service
17. Be able to provide two professional child-related references from the last two years
