Description
General Dynamics Land Systems is seeking a full-time Senior Network Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will earn a salary of £42,400 to £53,000, based on experience. This role is ideal for someone proactive, positive, and eager to grow professionally.
Based at our Merthyr facility, you will collaborate with stakeholders and support, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring security and operational support. You will develop network strategies and work within cross-functional teams to optimize performance, providing technical guidance to enhance network architecture aligned with business goals.
Typical weekly tasks include:
* Leading GDLS Shared Service IT Network change activities.
* Proposing improvements to the Network Lead and team.
* Handling daily BAU and project tasks within the network team.
* Configuring routing, switching, and security devices per policies.
* Remote troubleshooting and support across GDUK sites.
* Maintaining network security compliance through patching and updates.
* Managing relationships with external vendors and ensuring SLAs are met.
Requirements:
* Understanding of LAN/WAN, protocols, routing, switching, security, and performance optimization.
* Experience with virtual networking technologies like SD-WAN and SASE.
* Knowledge of change control, licensing, asset management, BGP, MPLS, OSPF, STP, IPSEC, SSL, TCP/IP, and Cisco/Palo Alto security devices.
* Experience with enterprise environments, wireless protocols, VPNs, QoS, VOIP, cabling standards.
