Role Overview
The Fundraising & Trade Finance Manager is responsible for raising and structuring funding to support trade finance and commodity trading activities. The role focuses on sourcing capital from banks, trade finance funds, institutional investors, and family offices, and structuring funding solutions aligned with underlying trade flows.
The position requires a strong understanding of UK and international trade finance, investor structuring, and the ability to translate trade transactions into bankable, investor-ready opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Capital Raising
* Originate and execute fundraising initiatives to support trade finance transactions
* Raise debt and/or structured funding through:
* UK and international banks
* Trade finance and private credit funds
* Family offices and institutional investors
* Prepare investment materials including pitch decks, information memoranda, and term sheets
* Lead negotiations with lenders and investors and support deal closings
* Maintain a strong pipeline of funding opportunities
Trade Finance & Transaction Structuring
* Work closely with Trading, Risk, Legal, and Operations teams to structure transactions
* Support and structure trade finance instruments including:
* Letters of Credit (LCs)
* Pre-export and borrowing-base facilities
* Receivables and inventory finance
* Structured commodity finance
* Assess transaction risks, collateral structures, and cash-flow mechanics
* Ensure funding structures meet investor, lender, and internal risk requirements
Investor Relations & Reporting
* Act as a primary contact for funding partners and investors
* Deliver regular performance and utilisation reporting
* Support ongoing investor communications and repeat funding
* Ensure transparency and consistency of information provided to stakeholders
Governance & Market Awareness
* Support compliance with UK regulatory expectations (FCA-aligned conduct where applicable)
* Monitor UK and international trade finance market developments
* Identify new funding structures and investor channels
Requirements
Experience
* 5–10+ years' experience in trade finance, fundraising, structured finance, or private credit
* Proven experience raising capital for trade finance or commodity-linked transactions
* Strong exposure to UK banks, funds, or alternative lenders
* Solid knowledge of trade finance products and documentation
* Ability to structure and analyse funding transactions linked to physical trade flows
* Strong financial analysis and deal execution capability
* Understanding of risk, collateral, and credit structures
* Strong relationship management and negotiation skills
* Commercial, execution-focused mindset
* Ability to communicate complex structures clearly to investors
* Comfortable operating in a regulated, professional environment
* Experience in commodities (energy, agri, metals, softs)
* Existing UK or European investor / lender network
* Exposure to emerging markets trade finance
* Professional qualification (ACA, CFA, or similar)
