We are currently seeking enthusiastic Maternity Healthcare Support Workers to join our team at Princess Alexandra Wing, Royal Cornwall Hospital. The successful applicants will be responsible for supporting the midwifery team in delivering high standards of care to women and their babies.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist and support midwifery staff with clinical duties, establishing rapport with mothers and families, and communicating individual women's needs to the midwife.
* Assist women with maintaining personal hygiene and appearance after delivery, ensuring their privacy and personal preferences are respected.
* Record observations such as changes in skin appearance or bodily functions on appropriate charts and report to the registered midwife.
* Support women in eating and drinking, ensuring they receive appropriate diet and fluids, keeping intake records timely and accurately, and reporting any difficulties to the registered midwife.
* Be able to work as a team member.
* Perform clerical duties as designated by the Ward Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should be trained to NVQ Level 2 (Health) or hold the Health Care Certificate. Venepuncture skills and previous knowledge of supporting feeding choices are desirable, but training will be given to the right applicant.
