About the Role
We are seeking two dedicated Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SLTA) to join the ECASS team and support the delivery of the Early Language Support for Every Child (ELSEC) programme. This exciting pilot initiative, funded by NHS England and the Department for Education, aims to improve early identification and support for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) in Early Years and Primary settings. The posts are fixed term to 31/7/2026 (term could be extended subject to funding).
Following a successful pilot in Barnet, ELSEC is now expanding to Enfield. The programme focuses on children accessing the Universal Offer in mainstream schools and introduces a new model where SLTAs deliver universal, targeted, and specialist support directly to schools under the supervision of a Speech and Language Therapist. The goal is to build school staff confidence and capacity to sustain language development during and beyond the programme.
Key Responsibilities
1. Work under the supervision of a Speech and Language Therapist to deliver interventions in schools.
2. Support children with SLCN through universal and targeted strategies.
3. Assist in training school staff to embed communication support in everyday practice.
4. Contribute to data collection and reporting for programme evaluation.
5. Collaborate with education and health professionals to ensure high-quality, child-centred support.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
6. Has experience working with children in healthcare or education settings (including Early Years and/or Primary schools).
7. Has a keen interest in children’s communication and language development.
8. Is enthusiastic, organised, and able to work collaboratively within a team.
9. Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
