Job Title: Applied Scientist
Job Description
As an Applied Scientist, you will engage in prompt engineering, evaluation, and fine-tuning of LLMs to enhance performance. This role offers an opportunity to work alongside a diverse and talented team in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
1. Understand the stack and workflow from user query to response generation.
2. Identify major challenges and quantify them.
3. Conduct literature reviews on the latest academic and industry approaches.
4. Prepare a one-pager outlining hypotheses, evaluation plans, and proposed solutions.
5. Transition from research to implementation and evaluation.
6. Participate in scrums, flight reviews, and experiment reviews.
7. Balance research and engineering tasks, approximately 50% each.
Essential Skills
8. Solid foundation in traditional machine learning principles.
9. Familiarity with LLMs, GPTs, transformers, and deep learning concepts.
10. Proficiency in Python and optimisation techniques.
11. Ability to analyse and persist through failed experiments.
12. Comfortable with technical discussions and concise business summaries.
