The role is predominantly based at Pinderfields Hospital, with the possibility of some activity across our peripheral sites at Dewsbury District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary. It is full-time, covering a 5 day service Monday Friday. The role also includes dedicated study-time allocation to enable clinical professional development and service growth. The service provides variation through; day to day ward-based treatment and management delivery of acute ENT Patients, dedicated hot-clinics and elective clinics. Through employing the Trust values in all actions and activities undertaken, the focus is on delivering quality and high-standards of care delivery and treatment while taking into consideration; admission avoidance, assisting patient flow within the division and providing an excellent patient experience each and every time. The role is demanding, however the successful candidate will be supported by the direct team and the wider medical team, along with integration into the wider divisional advanced practice team. Responsible to - Divisional Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Division of Surgery Accountable to - Assistant Director of Nursing Main duties The primary aim of the role is to ensure that a high-quality service is delivered to patients and their carers in a timely manner. The role is multidimensional and requires the post holder to integrate and fulfil all the identified dimensions. As an advanced clinical practitioner, all activities provide opportunities for acting as a role model for staff. The advanced clinical practitioner will: Work across all four pillars of advanced clinical practice Adhere to robust governance processes to ensure Safety and quality through all undertaken actions. Portray confidence, competence and transparency in all aspects of the role. Manage their own caseload of patients who present with undifferentiated and undiagnosed illness into the ENT Service, in addition to undertaking activities and managing patients on the ward. Undertake audits within the clinical setting to develop an evidence base and seek opportunities for research implementation. Actively seek, observe, initiate, and engage with service and quality improvements. Provide excellent patient experience through maintaining high-standards of care delivery. Work closely with the senior management team to assist patient flow. Provide formal and informal teaching, support, and clinical supervision to nursing staff and junior medical staff. Provide support to more junior members of the advanced clinical practitioner team and the wider clinical teams. Support the wider multidisciplinary team, undertaking independent comprehensive assessment and management of patients to incorporate physiological, psychological, and pharmacological considerations, making multifaceted complex clinical decisions regarding patient management and clinical outcomes, including, where appropriate, the discharging patients from the service when treatment is complete/optimum outcome is achieved.
