Sector Director - Transport and Aviation

Job objectives and responsibilities
* Lead Mitie's national operations for all service lines across aviation hubs, ports, transport networks, and critical infrastructure, delivering risk‑managed, technology‑enabled solutions tailored to high‑footfall, regulated environments.
* Develop strategic partnerships with transport authorities, airport operators, and logistics clients, ensuring cultural alignment, service excellence, and performance management to drive value and sector growth.
* Achieve and exceed budgets through operational and financial performance, implement Mitie's Strategic Account Management program, and develop Service Delivery Plans that position Mitie as the industry leader in aviation and transport security.
* Own client relationships and deliver services in accordance with Mitie's commercial framework to: Find, Win, Grow & Keep strategically important accounts.
Main duties
* Assume full responsibility for the sector's P&L performance, including driving sales, operational delivery and financial outcomes.
* Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across airports, ports, transport authorities, and supply chain partners, leveraging internal expertise to showcase best practices.
* Lead a dedicated sector management team to deliver business objectives and provide strategic insights that drive efficiencies, savings, and integrated service models.
* Drive total contract ownership with measurable improvements in service consistency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
* Promote a culture of safety, innovation, operational excellence, and performance measurement across all transport environments.
* Attract, retain, and develop top talent, creating a structure that supports succession planning and workforce development.
* Identify and expand growth opportunities through regular strategic reviews with clients, aligned to Mitie's governance frameworks.
* Partner with Mitie's business development team to prospect, pitch, and secure contract expansions and renewals.
* Maximise client lifecycle value by embedding Mitie into the customer's operational philosophy and securing additional workstreams.
* Anticipate sector trends (e.g. regulatory changes, passenger volumes, technology shifts) and adapt operations accordingly.
* Promote Mitie's brand and capabilities to clients, reinforcing its leadership in aviation and transport security.
Required Skills & Experiences
* Proven senior leadership in aviation, transport, or regulated environments with strategic partnership delivery.
* Experience in public sector or regulated transport settings, including contingency planning and event response.
* Commercially astute with a track record of identifying and securing growth opportunities.
* Strong leadership presence, embracing accountability and responsibility.
* Skilled relationship builder across complex stakeholder landscapes.
* Energetic and determined, focused on delivering value and exceeding expectations.
* Demonstrated P&L ownership and commercial acumen.

Health and Safety responsibilities
* Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times.
* Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
* Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
* Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and/or via your divisional incident reporting system.
Information Security
* Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities.
* Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager.
* Report actual and suspected security incidents.
