About the role:
Position: Food Production Operative / Cook at Sodexo, RAF Brize Norton, Carterton, OX18 3LX.
As a Cook in a café or digital food operation, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality food efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role involves preparing and cooking pre-ordered meals, ensuring consistency, presentation, and food safety standards are met. You will play a key role in maintaining smooth kitchen operations while supporting a modern, technology-driven service model.
What you’ll do:
* Prepare, cook, and present a variety of food items in line with recipe cards and cooking methods
* Manage and fulfil all orders
* Ensure food is prepared quickly and accurately to meet service time targets
* Monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients, and ensure proper storage following food safety regulations
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen and food preparation areas
* Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including HACCP procedures
* Minimise food waste and control portion sizes to maintain cost efficiency
* Assist with deliveries, checking quality and storing stock correctly
* Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
* Maintain kitchen equipment and report faults or maintenance issues promptly
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
* Experience in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level
* One of the following qualifications (or equivalent):
o BSc (Catering)
o MHCIM
o HND
o City & Guilds 706/1 and 2
o NVQ Level 2 or 3
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standards precisely
Desirable:
* Experience working within a military environment
* IOSH qualification (or equivalent)
* Experience in a customer-facing role
* CIEH Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
