About The Role
Teach Now is recruiting a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Support Officer to join a welcoming, high‑achieving secondary school in Dacorum, Hertfordshire. You’ll play a key role in supporting students’ wellbeing, attendance, and personal development, ensuring every young person feels supported, valued, and ready to succeed. Working closely with Heads of Year and Pastoral Leaders, you’ll help manage daily pastoral care, build strong relationships across the school community, and act as a trusted point of contact for students needing guidance or support. This is a full‑time role, with some flexibility. Breakfast club duties each morning are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Support Heads of Year and the pastoral team with behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing.
* Provide mentoring and emotional support for students, particularly those with SEMH or attendance challenges.
* Liaise with parents, staff, and external agencies to ensure consistent care.
* Monitor safeguarding concerns on CPOMS and follow up appropriately.
* Assist with attendance tracking, restorative conversations, and inclusion support.
* Help deliver pastoral programmes, assemblies, and transition activities.
* Maintain accurate records and provide administrative support to the team.
* Supervise students at break/ lunchtime and attend key school events as needed.
About You
* Have experience working with secondary‑age students in a pastoral, mentoring, or inclusion role.
* Demonstrate empathy, communication skills, and professionalism.
* Stay calm, organised, and solution‑focused under pressure.
* Understand safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Be confident using ICT systems (e.g. SIMS, CPOMS, Microsoft Office).
* Model high standards of conduct, appearance, and punctuality.
