About The Role
Purpose: To have overall accountability for successful project delivery including initiation, planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/closeout. A change agent that provides management, leadership and inspires a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a common goal.
To determine the most appropriate means of satisfying customer/project requirements, objectives and constraints: time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits.
Responsibilities
* Hold periodic project reviews (PRM) and update the Digital Briefcase in accordance with GBL.
* Prepare both internal and external reports and liaise with stakeholders.
* Ensure adherence to scope/information/configuration management plans.
* Ensure reports provide relevant information to enable informed, cost-effective decisions in line with overall strategy.
* Ensure scope and package assignment supports coordinated team working.
* Lead a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation.
* Responsible for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain.
* Carry out periodic safety and environmental tours/promote observation and safety initiatives.
* Produce plans for the team to achieve goals and aspirations.
* Develop high-performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training through mentoring and performance management.
* Coach and provide guidance to the Project Manager.
* Lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the risk register and recommend/implement changes.
* Log and escalated issues that cannot be resolved at the delegated level of authority.
* Take a strategic view of subcontract package allocation and ensure contractual arrangements are in place.
* Ensure procurement plans align with overall project plans so that material, resources and supply chain can be delivered on schedule.
* Ensure all work is undertaken with a view towards handover and certification.
* Accountable for KPIs in line with project objectives and monitor performance.
* Ensure assurance activities (audits) are undertaken and take appropriate action on findings.
* Lead working groups and work with OLT on focused improvement areas.
* Develop, implement, review and periodically update resource-loaded schedules.
* Ensure team adopts productivity and project controls techniques.
* Ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and customer expectations.
* Ensure expenditure is in line with the budget and resources are used efficiently to control cost.
* Identify cost recovery opportunities from others.
* Incorporate and balance operational and commercial constraints into decision making.
* Lead effective reporting routines including escalation as required.
* Advocate consistency and reliability of digital data to support successful project delivery.
* Awareness of Digital Group Minimum Standards and operate with appropriate level of digital tools.
* Seek coaching so the team has correct level of training.
Qualifications – Essential
* Track record of project delivery.
* Experience in implementing safe systems of work.
* Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts.
* Proficiency in commercial/project management communications.
* Effective verbal and written communication with all levels of the organization.
* Team management skills that empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams.
* Experience delivering mentoring and support to team members.
* Commercially astute.
* Ability to undertake work in high-pressure situations.
* Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.
* Record of a solutions-based approach to problem solving.
* Ability to see the business vision and inspire shared vision among the team.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Experience working on a variety of project types.
* Member of a professional management body (e.g., APM).
* Proficient on O365.
* Current driving license.
* Attend and contribute to industry events.
* Formal qualification (BSc/MSc) in management/construction or equivalent experience.
* APM PFQ/PMQ/PPQ accreditation.
* CSCS and SMSTS or equivalent.
