Clinical Fellow - Interventional Radiology

Applications are invited for a full‑time post‑CCT fellowship in Interventional Radiology, providing specialist skills and knowledge across vascular and oncological procedures. The successful candidate will work across two sites: the new Royal Liverpool Hospital and Aintree Hospital, with access to state‑of‑the‑art imaging suites.
Main duties of the job
* Perform a broad range of vascular and oncological interventions across four IR theatres and an upcoming hybrid suite, using Siemens Artis Zee and Artis Pheno systems.
* Participate in multidisciplinary care, including joint procedures with vascular surgeons in hybrid theatres (e.g., EVAR, ChEVAR, FEVAR, TEVAR).
* Carry out oncology interventions such as TACE, portal vein embolisation, SIRT and ablation techniques (microwave, IRE, cryoablation).
* Execute other vascular/non‑vascular interventions: PAE, UFE, trauma embolisations, AVM treatment, fistula work, PTC, etc.
* Maintain diagnostic radiology skills with dedicated reporting sessions and pursue independent practice.
Job responsibilities
* Cross‑site working to utilise specialist services at each location.
* Full‑time commitment with participation in the cross‑site registrar on‑call rota (1 in 6).
* Reporting, vetting and query handling as part of the doctor‑of‑the‑day rota.
* Audit and research contributions.
Person specification
Qualifications
* MB ChB or MBBS (or equivalent).
Registration
* Full registration with the GMC and licence to practise (or eligible for).
* Eligible for specialist register in Radiology.
Clinical Experience
* CCT in Radiology (or equivalent training) or within 6 months of attaining one at interview time.
* Evidence of continuing medical education.
* Sub‑specialty training.
Teaching & training experience
* Experience teaching to medical, nursing and other staff.
Clinical Governance experience
* Understanding of NHS management structures and principles of Clinical Governance.
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for patient care.
* Understanding of clinical audit principles and publication of audit results.
Research experience
* Understanding of research principles.
* Proven track record in research and publication.
* Success in obtaining research funding.
IT Skills
* Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Proficient with patient information systems.
Motivation and personal attributes
* Organisational skills and time management.
* Punctuality, initiative and ability to cope with stress.
* Good communication skills and leadership qualities.
* Teamwork abilities.
