Healthcare Scientist in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics

Responsibilities
* Develop high standards of technical and analytical skills in practical aspects of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) and their clinical application.
* Record test results and ensure the integrity and accuracy of laboratory databases.
* Analyse and interpret test results and prepare reports for verification and authorisation.
* Lead daily laboratory activities on a rota basis by supervising laboratory assistants, technologists and trainee scientists involved in specimen reception and sample processing.
* Contribute to diagnostic service delivery by performing H&I techniques after appropriate training.
* Participate in out-of-hours on-call duties after training.
* Organise and plan workload in a time-efficient manner with reference to senior staff.
Qualifications and requirements
* Biological science graduate background.
* Experience within Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I).
* Working towards specialist qualifications such as BSHI Diploma or STP Training in H&I.
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is desirable at appointment.
* Healthcare Scientist without HCPC registration will undergo relevant training to achieve registration.
* Participation in a CPD scheme (e.g., BSHI) is mandatory following HCPC registration.
