Description: Our client is a global leader in the nuclear energy industry. The Role: As a Layout Engineer, you will be responsible for the coordination, integration and management of plant layout designs across multiple engineering disciplines. You will ensure the installation design is technically sound, safe and meets project requirements for space management, constructability, operability and maintainability within a regulated nuclear environment. Key Responsibilities: Layout Integration: The Layout Engineer will c oordinate layout design across civil, mechanical, electrical, piping and HVAC disciplines, ensuring alignment with technical and regulatory requirements. Design Development: Produce and update 3D layout models using industry-standard software; manage changes and maintain configuration control. Field Coordination: Assess and respond to on-site queries related to layout and routing (e.g., cable trays, piping runs, equipment access). Technical Evaluation: The Layout Engineer will a nalyse the impact of proposed changes on the design, interfacing systems and schedule; provide practical solutions. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams, site construction and commissioning staff to resolve design issues and optimize layout. Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to nuclear safety standards, design codes and internal procedures throughout the layout process. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain layout documentation and interface drawings; contribute to progress reporting and design reviews. Required Qualifications & Skills: Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent). Experience in plant layout engineering in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects. Proficiency in 3D layout software such as Navisworks, PDMS, E3D, or similar CAD platforms. Strong understanding of spatial coordination, interface management, and design integration. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs. Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Fluent in English; familiar with working in a multicultural, multidisciplinary project environment. Desired Skills & Experience: Background in nuclear, oil & gas, energy, or other heavily regulated industries. Knowledge of UK nuclear regulations, project structures and quality standards. Experience working on construction/installation phases of complex infrastructure projects.
