About the Role
We are currently seeking a full-time Study Skills Lecturer to work closely with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills within the curriculum across a range of higher education programmes from Foundation to Masters’ Level as part of our BSU, UoS and OBU partnerships. This includes improving English language, numeracy, organisational and presentation skills, digital literacy, basic IT skills, reading, writing and higher order research skills. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

* Department: Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU), University of Suffolk (UoS), Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), Oxford Brooks University (OBU) and/or Pearson partnerships
* Location: Leeds (On-Site)
* Salary: £51,000
* Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)
Responsibilities
* Design and document bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and individual schemes of work to develop study skills in the curriculum.
* Deliver, evaluate teaching and identify areas for improvement to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and overall student experience in accordance with the GBS Learning and Teaching strategy.
* Provide feedback on individual and class progress in academic writing and other relevant study skills.
* Provide tutorial consultations with students, give constructive comments tailored to each student’s needs, explain where work fails to meet assessment criteria and suggest ways to improve their work and working practices.
* Record details from these appointments for statistical, evaluation and quality purposes and refer students to other services as appropriate.
* Effectively engage with the VLE and research resources and facilitate students’ learning by engaging with online resources and activities.
* Contribute to GBS quality assurance systems and processes.
Qualifications
* Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
* Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.
* Have a successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes.
* Have proven experience of providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs.
* Be willing to lead a specific area of literacy development such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills (quantitative or qualitative), project and dissertation support, peer-assisted learning.
* Demonstrate a high level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills.
Desirable
* Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development.
* DELTA qualification.
* A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
