Artemis Human Capital is delighted to partner exclusively with the prestigious Royal Belfast Academical Institution (RBAI) in the appointment of a Bursar to join its Senior Leadership Team. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight across the schools financial, estates, and administrative functions. The Bursar will work closely with the Principal and Board of Governors to ensure the effective, efficient, and sustainable management of the schools resources. This appointment represents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to one of Northern Irelands most respected educational institutions. The successful candidate will play a key part in supporting RBAIs continued tradition of excellence, helping to shape the future of a school that has inspired and developed generations of leaders. The Bursar will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the non-academic operations of the School encompassing planning, monitoring and development of: Financial Management; Human Resources; Estate Management; Information Technology; and Administrative support for the Board of Governors Responsibilities: Drive all non-academic operations including finance, HR, estates, IT, and Board support, ensuring effective planning, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Lead the Schools finances, delivering budgets, reports, and accounts on time, while shaping a five-year strategic business plan. Prepare and submit all employment returns and reports to the Department of Education. Partner with auditors and accountants to ensure smooth internal and external audits and accurate annual financial accounts. Develop and implement plans for long-term financial sustainability and infrastructure growth. Provide expert guidance to the Board of Governors and Headmaster on financial, commercial, and operational matters. Ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and governance requirements. The Person: A recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Previous experience in financial management at a senior level. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills. Proven capability to thrive in a multi-faceted role, combining strategic oversight, operational delivery, and collaborative leadership.
