We have a fantastic opportunity for a Preceptorship Psychologist to join our integrated mental health team across HMP Belmarsh, a category A Prison located in South East London. The prison houses around 675 patients with a variety of needs including highly complex, and acute mental health.
Within this role you will work with a broad range of complex presentations. The position is suitable for a psychologist familiar with adult mental health presentations, neurodiversity and complex trauma, and experienced with trauma informed approaches. You will contribute to and support the clinical leadership team in developing the psychological therapies service, and supervise Assistant Psychologists. Supervision training can be supported as part of your preceptorship.
Hours
Tuesday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:00. This part‑time role works 3 days per week.
Salary
Up to £53,000 FTE per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
* Deliver a range of psychological interventions to individuals with complex mental health needs, both one‑to‑one and in group settings.
* Facilitate group interventions, including low‑intensity coping skills groups and psychologically informed groups (e.g. CFT and DBT‑informed approaches).
* Undertake psychological assessments and develop shared formulations to inform care and treatment planning.
* Contribute to multidisciplinary reviews and provide specialist psychological input into risk assessment and risk management.
* Offer consultation and guidance to the wider multidisciplinary team to promote psychologically informed practice.
* Provide regular reflective practice sessions, debriefing following incidents, and training to the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of trauma‑informed care.
* Participate in service development projects, CPD, peer supervision and professional development.
* Maintain accurate clinical records, update the PTS dashboard, and comply with policy and procedural requirements.
* Contribute to research, audit and service evaluation projects, including complex audit and research.
* Attend ACCT and segregation reviews, offer psychological opinion on management and referral decisions, and support the management of patients within the wing by prison staff.
Qualifications
* Full HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist.
* Experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs, ideally within forensic, secure, or other high‑risk settings.
* Experience delivering group and 1:1 interventions using a range of therapeutic modalities (e.g. CBT, DBT, EMDR).
* Confidence in working across therapeutic models, and application of trauma‑informed approaches.
* Ability to provide supervision and training to the multidisciplinary team.
