Job Summary

A rare opportunity has arisen for full or part‑time Clinical Support Workers to join our friendly team working in the Kendal Urgent Treatment Centre (KUTC) at Westmorland General Hospital. The department sees around 32,000 patients a year with minor injury/illness and prides itself on a forward‑thinking approach to care.


Main duties of the job

The job holder will be actively involved in providing patient care under the supervision of a registered professional. The role requires high focus, enthusiasm and motivation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, planning, organisational ability and the capacity to work under pressure.


Qualifications and Experience

* Basic literacy and numeracy skills
* NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or Care Related Area
* Care Certificate or willingness and ability to undertake appropriate training
* Minimum 6 months’ experience in a healthcare setting, preferably an Urgent Treatment Centre or Emergency Department, delivering clinical or personal care
* Full training and development will be available to support the skills and knowledge required within this role

Person Specification

Essential

* NVQ level 3/Care Certificate or similar
* Able to perform venepuncture
* Able to record observations of pulse, blood pressure, O2 sats and respirations
* Willingness to undertake further training (e.g. cannulation, plaster or Paris casts)
* Experience working with computer systems
* Experience of working with minor injuries

Desirable

* Trusts support worker programme
* Experience of working with general public, older adults, children
* Able to perform ECGs
