Job Title: Field Performance Manager
Location: Burham Water Supply Works, Kent

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum plus a business needs car

We’re investing £130 million to upgrade our water supply works in Burham, reducing the risk of supply interruptions and increasing the site’s treatment capacity. This major project ensures that even during essential maintenance, our customers enjoy a continuous supply of safe, clean drinking water.
We’re looking for a passionate and motivated leader to build, engage, and inspire our operations team. You’ll champion excellence, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and play a key role in delivering our five priorities: our people, health & safety, water quality, risk & resilience, and efficiency.
About the Role
Reporting to the Area Operations Manager, you’ll lead a high-performing team with a strong health and safety culture, ensuring we consistently meet internal and regulatory KPIs. You’ll be the responsible person for the disinfection process, guaranteeing a robust, resilient 24/7 service for our customers.
This is a fast-paced, diverse role where no two days are the same. You’ll have the opportunity to think differently about asset reliability and resilience, develop your team, and drive a sustainable operating model. With significant investment during AMP8, you’ll gain exposure across the business, working with leaders, contractors, and colleagues to keep health and safety at the forefront.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver the area production plan by ensuring asset availability and planned work completion.
2. Build a collaborative, engaged, and capable team through coaching and performance management and ensure team competence through statutory training and compliance training
3. Resolve customer complaints and improve customer metrics.
4. Maintain high standards of maintenance and reactive job completion via audits and continuous improvement.
5. Ensure legal compliance for people, assets, and processes.
6. Manage operational budgets and drive efficiency.
7. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure site resilience.
You will act as escalation point for operational issues, ensuring safe working methods. The role requires you to participate in an out-of-hours rota (1 in 12) once trained
About You
We’re looking for someone with a strong background in operational management and leadership, ideally within water production or the wider water industry. You’ll bring proven leadership and people management skills, along with operational or process management experience.
A solid understanding of water or wastewater treatment is essential, coupled with a passion for continuous improvement and driving change. You’ll demonstrate:
8. Strong leadership and coaching abilities, influencing and negotiation skills
9. Experience in managing contractors is important,
10. Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is required.
11. Excellent communication combined with commercial awareness.
Desirable
12. Knowledge of health and safety standards, with IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications
