Training Academy Coach / Product Support Engineer
Location: Home based (with national travel – 4 day week)
Reports to: After Sales Manager, Andy Bentley
Mentorship: Senior Coach, Ken West / Technical Director, Steve Weavers
Train the Future: Coaching Engineers on FASSI’s TECHNO Range
Are you a skilled crane engineer with a passion for developing others?
Are you an experienced field engineer with strong hydraulic, electrical and diagnostic skills? You may have spent your career working on lifting or plant equipment such as: truck loader cranes, access platforms (MEWPs), telehandlers, mobile cranes, skip loaders / hooklifts, forestry cranes, construction plant, agricultural machinery or any equipment operating under LOLER?
If so, your experience is highly relevant – and this could be the perfect next step in your career.
Whether you’re still happy out in the field or you’re looking for a role that’s less wear-and-tear and more about using your knowledge to develop others, we’d like to hear from you.
Since 2015, under the tutelage of Ken West, more than 100 engineers have progressed through our coaching pathway, developing real expertise in FASSI cranes. Our Academy is 40% training and 60% coaching to ensure engineers can implement what they’ve learned in the real world.
In 2025, we launched our brand-new Pathway to Proficiency syllabus to support the next generation of TECHNO cranes.
We have also partnered with the National Fluid Power Centre (NFPC), the UK’s leading hydraulics training provider. Their courses are now part of our accreditation pathway, giving each engineer several days of practical, hands‑on training at NFPC’s technical centre.
We’ve also invested in the TECHNO simulator rig at Warwick, giving engineers classroom‑based practical experience before moving to live crane installations.
To deliver this expanded programme, we wish to recruit a second Product Support Engineer / Training Academy Coach to join our team & follow in Ken West’s footsteps.
What You’ll Do
* Deliver hands‑on training and coaching to engineers across our 18 authorised dealers & service points nationwide.
* Support engineers through the Pathway to Proficiency modular certification system, from Maintenance & Inspection through Authorised Technician to FSC TECHNO system setup.
* Lead training at our Warwick HQ using the TECHNO simulator rig as well as live crane setups in the field.
* Offer technical support and diagnostic assistance on‑site and via our service helpdesk when required.
* Share technical bulletins and best practice across the dealer and service network.
This is a field‑based role: expect around 60% of your time on‑site with dealers and service partners across the UK, and 40% office‑based either from home or Warwick.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience in truck loader crane service, repair and installation but we are also ready to consider applicants from any aligned product operating under LOLER.
* Competence in hydraulic and electronic systems; exposure to modern control systems (FASSI FX500 / FX900 an advantage).
* A natural coach: able to listen, support, and guide engineers without simply “fixing it for them”.
* Organised and proactive, with the ability to manage your schedule, minimise travel inefficiencies, and respond quickly when needed.
* Willingness to travel nationwide and work away from home. (When overnight stays are required Mon–Thurs, you’ll normally work a four‑day week with Fridays work from home).
* A can‑do, will‑do attitude. Sometimes unexpected challenges arise, and we need to put boots on the ground quickly and stay until the job is done.
What You’ll Get
* A 1–2 year development period as an understudy to Ken West, depending on your experience, before flying fully solo.
* Full mentorship from Ken West, who has led the Academy since its inception.
* Technical support and guidance from Steve Weavers.
* Fully developed training course materials, plus training administration, database, and diary support from our After Sales Manager, Andy Bentley.
* You will complete the ALLMI Thorough Inspectors course, supporting safe use of lorry loaders and industry best practice.
* The chance to be at the forefront of training on the new TECHNO crane range.
* A clear development pathway to become a senior coach within the Academy and a big cog in our small, dedicated, expert team.
* Commitment to work/life balance – we recognise the demands of travel and want this to be a sustainable long‑term role, working a four‑day week when appropriate.
* Company vehicle, mobile phone, laptop.
* Competitive starting salary to match experience, with salary progression and performance bonus.
