Employment basis: The role is expected to be a full-time position however we are open to discussing a more flexible or part-time approach where possible. The Role
Sizewell C is seeking a Legal Counsel – IP & Technology to join the Legal team and provide specialist legal advice and support across technology (IT), data protection, intellectual property (IP) and digital transformation. You will work alongside procurement, engineering, IT and delivery teams to enable the project’s success while managing risk and protecting value.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist legal advice and support across technology (IT), data protection, IP, and digital transformation.
* Work with procurement, engineering, IT and delivery teams to enable project success while managing risk and protecting value.
* Draft and negotiate technology contracts, software licensing, and digital infrastructure agreements.
* Advise on and manage IP protection strategy, licensing and enforcement.
* Maintain a good understanding of data protection law (UK GDPR), cyber-security and vendor/outsourcing legal risks.
* Demonstrate excellent commercial awareness, strong drafting and negotiation skills, and effective stakeholder engagement in a fast-paced, high-profile project environment.
* Experience in infrastructure/energy/mega-project sectors is desirable but not essential.
Qualifications
* Qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales (or equivalent common-law jurisdiction) with a current practising certificate.
* 3+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) in-house or at a leading law firm with substantial exposure to technology and data contracts. Experience with IP is beneficial.
* Strong track record in drafting and negotiating technology contracts, software licensing, and digital infrastructure agreements.
* Experience advising on and managing IP protection strategy, licensing and enforcement.
* Good understanding of data protection law (UK GDPR), cyber-security and vendor/outsourcing legal risks.
* Excellent commercial awareness, drafting and negotiation skills, stakeholder engagement, and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
* Experience in infrastructure/energy/mega-project sectors is desirable but not essential.
