Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate leader with extensive urology experience who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient‑centred care. The successful candidate will lead and develop the urology CNS service, providing expert clinical advice, supporting service improvement, and ensuring patients receive seamless care throughout their treatment pathway.
Responsibilities
* Engage directly with the surgical management team, the Urology Navigator, nursing, and secretarial teams to deliver a seamless service to patients presenting with urology conditions on the UIU pathway.
* Provide specialist advice, leadership, collaboration, and consultancy to ensure patients gain appropriate and timely care.
* Develop consistent approaches to strategic management of the patient group, including training, education, policy and guideline development, audit, research, and implementation of evidence‑based care.
* Ensure nursing resources are managed and supported in line with service delivery.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines across departments, embedding clinical governance in practice.
* Manage budgets for nursing and AHP resources under the Director of Nursing’s direction, monitor variance and implement contingency plans.
* Lead and coordinate the Urology CNS team to ensure effective management of patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
* Utilise advanced health assessment skills to ensure optimum physical and psychological needs of patients are met.
* Evaluate projects to improve patient care through the audit cycle, linking to the clinical governance framework and business planning process.
* Provide professional and emotional support to staff, including during difficult situations or unexpected events.
* Undertake a workload requiring moderate to high physical effort, depending on patient dependency or staff needs.
* Maintain NMC registration by undertaking appropriate continuing professional development (CPD).

* Highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high‑quality service within a complex and challenging environment with often conflicting priorities.
* Demonstrated ability to provide a high‑quality professional nursing service across Urology services, promoting best practice and implementing a review process that focuses on quality and efficiency.
* Experience in budgeting, monitoring variance, and implementing contingency plans for nursing and AHP resources.
* Strong leadership, teamwork, and the ability to provide professional and emotional support to individuals and groups.
* Evidence of effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care.
* Capability to manage direct workload requiring moderate to high physical effort when necessary.
* Commitment to continuing professional development and maintaining NMC registration.
