Political Advisor Salary - £36,363 to £40,777 per annum (Grade 6) Location - Flexible, minimum of 3 Days Office Based - Wolverhampton Contract Type - Permanent ­, Full Time Immediate Start Do you have a passion for Politics and an interest in Local Government? Are you motivated and inspired by the principles and values of the Reform UK Party? City of Wolverhampton Council is looking for an exceptional candidate to fill the post of Political Advisor. The main purpose of this role is to undertake administrative and research duties for the Leader of the Reform UK Group, Portfolio Holders and Lead Members. The successful candidate will assist the Leader with casework and establish contacts with other organisations, institutions and Local Authorities to keep abreast of new policy and research development. You will develop links with local Members of Parliament, WMCA Mayoral Office and with other holders of political office, and be expected to attend Council meetings, including Full Council, Cabinet and Scrutiny Meetings. You will be comfortable navigating social media and digital platforms, using them actively to stay ahead of the news cycle, monitor emerging political issues, and gather real-time intelligence to inform briefings and activity. To be considered for this role, an interest in Local Government is essential, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality. The successful candidate must have substantial experience of administrative and research work within a political, public affairs or governance environment and hold a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. NJC Pay Award for 2026 / 2027: The annual pay increases for 2026/27 for NJC Local Government Employees are currently being negotiated and, once agreed, will be effective from 1 April 2026. Our working arrangements All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empower employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
