Role Responsibilities
Recovery workers act as ‘key workers’ supporting a caseload of service users to set treatment goals and develop plans to achieve them. Responsibilities include maintaining regular contact, offering advice, providing psycho-social interventions, assessments, risk management planning, and working closely with clinical staff and partner agencies. Effective communication, task management, and commitment to Turning Point values are essential. Candidates may have lived experience of substance use, mental health, or homelessness, or experience supporting people in health and social care. We welcome all with aligned values.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will understand substance and alcohol use challenges, have transferable skills from related fields, and be flexible and dynamic in working with individuals and groups. Knowledge of relapse and barriers to recovery is vital. Excellent communication skills and shared organizational values are essential. We value lived experience and interest in this work; our Trainee Recovery Worker program offers entry-level opportunities for those without all experience but with motivation to learn.
We encourage creativity and initiative, supporting staff to improve service quality and user experience. Extensive training and a learning culture help develop skills and stay updated with field developments.
