Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Braintree District Council Temporary, Part-Time 3 days per week 2-3 Months Contract £389.864 PAYE / £500 Umbrella daily rate Immediate Start Closing Date: Monday 8 th December 2025 Interviews: Thursday 11 th December 2025 Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Braintree District Council in recruiting a Senior Infrastructure Engineer on a part-time, temporary basis. Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to be on-site 2 days per week. Key Accountabilities: Technical support and maintenance for enterprise level server infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP. Manage, troubleshoot and optimise network architecture, including LAN/WAN, WIFI, firewalls, VPNs, and routing for secure connectivity. Technical support and knowledge of Backup solutions and Disaster Recovery Monitor system performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues Ensure robust cybersecurity measures, including vulnerability management, patching, and compliance Technical lead for infrastructure projects, migrations, and upgrades Administer and manage Microsoft 365/Office 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Co-Pilot, Intune, and security/compliance configurations. Maintain documentation and enforcement of IT policies Local government experience Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and support teams.
