Clinical Psychologist Specialising in Older People

The closing date is 09 December 2025

We have exciting posts available for qualified and HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to join the Older People Care Unit, working in a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). We have three temporary posts to cover maternity leave in our Bassetlaw, Newark & Sherwood, and Rushcliffe CMHTs.

Psychologists are highly valued within our CMHTs and the wider Care Unit. Whilst you would be based within a CMHT, we frequently come together as a wider psychology department for meetings, CPD discussions, regular away days, and time out sessions.

You would also become part of a wider network of Psychologists across the Trust, facilitated by an Associate Director for Psychological Professions, with regular opportunities to connect. We have excellent relationships with local professional training courses and academic institutions, which also provides further research, supervision, and teaching opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The CMHTs provide community-based assessment and interventions for older people with a variety of mental health needs and people with a diagnosis of dementia. The CMHT has links with the Memory Assessment Service (MAS), Young Onset Dementia team (YOD), Dementia Outreach Service (DOS) and the Intensive Home Treatment Teams (IHTT).

You would work as part of a wider multidisciplinary team, including other psychological professionals (i.e., CBT Therapists and Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners). This varied role involves providing psychological therapy, specialised neuropsychological assessments, and supporting the team through formulation, consultation, training, and supervision.

Psychologists are currently involved in several service development projects including reviewing psychological therapy pathways and wider review and development of pathways for people with dementia and with complex emotional needs. You would be supported to actively engage in these pieces of work.
