Job description is pending Royal College approval. Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to make a substantive whole time appointment to this newly established post with Bury Mental Health Services.
This post will cover a sector of the Bury area. The post has been created due to the current consultant moving to another job in the trust.
The Bury general adult psychiatry service (generally for people aged 16 to 64) has been run since 2008 according to a model whereby our team of consultants are deployed as follows: Three consultants work exclusively in the community and outpatient focus areas, one working with the Early Intervention Service, and two inpatient area including Home Treatment and two A&E Liaison Team.
Also one consultant in Living Well. Within this arrangement, the consultant appointed to this post will work with other sector consultants (East, West and South sector community outpatients).
Main duties of the post
Patients will be seen in community clinics, at their own homes or in other clinical settings according to clinical need.
The consultant will contribute to teaching medical and nursing staff, and participate in innovation and personal development opportunities.
Person Specification
* Medical Degree Essential: MBChB or equivalent
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Full registration with GMC (Desirable)
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
* Specialist register Essential: Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
* Approved Clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* S12 approval Essential: Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment.
* Knowledge in psychiatry Essential: Excellent knowledge in adult psychiatry including knowledge and experience of a range of conditions and complex psychological problems.
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
* Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
