Main duties of the job
What you'll do:
* Code medical records accurately using SNOMED CT.
* Work with doctors and admin staff to keep patient information clear and consistent.
* Help us meet NHS requirements and support important services like QOF.
* Spot opportunities to improve our data and record keeping.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Clinical Coder in delivering health services. There may be, on occasion, arequirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors suchas workload and staffing levels:
* Accuratelyclinically code data into the patient record on the clinical system
* Identifyingrelevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, codingappropriately and completing any detailed action
* Inputting and extracting data as required to support practice reports, audits and to capitalise upon both patient safety and QOF income.
* Scanning patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records.
* Highlight all timely actions, changes to patient care and management to the relevant clinician
* File and store records as required.
* Photocopy/scan documentation as required.
* Action all correspondence, emails and mail in a timely manner.
* Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
* Completion of medical terminology course
Experience
* Experience of working with the general public
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting
* Experience of administrative duties
* Competent in the use of MS Office and Outlook
* Excellent communication skills and effective in communicating and understanding patient needs
* Ability to use own initiative, discretion, and sensitivity
* Experience of working in a GP Practice
* Experience of problem solving with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required
