NES Fircroft is working with a world leader in metallurgical plant solutions, seeking to appoint a Technical Buyer/Estimator to join their office in Scunthorpe.
The successful candidate will be responsible for procuring parts and services for workshop projects.
You will collaborate closely with the Sales Engineer and Operations Manager, involved in obtaining and negotiating prices of materials and services, generating purchase orders, and following up with suppliers to ensure timely procurement within budget. Additionally, you will assist in creating estimates for customer inquiries.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These include, but are not limited to:
1. Liaising with suppliers to ensure manufacturing, quality, delivery, and pricing meet project requirements and deadlines.
2. Generating purchase orders aligned with company policies and standards, ensuring supplier understanding and acceptance.
3. Maintaining strong supplier relationships through regular contact.
4. Supporting product development to maximize standardization and high-volume/value engineering manufacturing.
5. Preparing cost estimates for incoming inquiries.
6. Regularly reporting and discussing progress, issues, and solutions with the Sales Engineer and Operations Manager to facilitate successful customer projects or proposals.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Experience in Technical Buying/Procurement.
* Knowledge of supplier relationship management.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks.
* Strong communication skills, both spoken and written.
* Awareness of international cultures (desirable).
* Flexibility to travel occasionally to supplier and other sites.
Must hold a current UK Driving Licence and have the right to live and work in the UK, with the ability to travel internationally as needed, often on short notice.
