Purpose of Role
We are seeking a proactive and driven Assistant Facilities Manager (Soft Services) to support the delivery of high-quality facilities services across a small local estate of education sites.
Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong cleaning or soft services background to step into a broader facilities role, supervising teams and supporting overall site operations.
Based primarily at Elvaston Moor Academy, you will oversee services across 6 nearby sites (including secondary schools, primary schools, and a children’s centre), all located within close proximity.
Responsibilities
•Manage and supervise soft services, including cleaning and caretaking operations
•Ensure cleaning standards are consistently high through regular audits and inspections
•Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations and best practice
•Deliver training, coaching and development for team members
•Monitor costs, waste, and resource efficiency
•Support administrative processes, reporting, and documentation
•Work closely with the Senior Facilities Manager to support wider FM activities
Essential Qualifications/Skills
•Strong background in cleaning / soft services environments
•Previous team management or supervisory experience
•Knowledge of cleaning standards, audits and compliance
•Good understanding of health & safety practices
•A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to learn and develop
•Cleaning-related qualifications ( COSHH)
•Basic health & safety knowledge
•Full UK driving licence (required for travel between sites)
•Flexibility to work early mornings or evenings where required ( audits, team supervision)
