Are you positive about making a difference to the lives of children with sepecial educational needs? Do you have a passion for helping children reach their full potential? We are working closely with specialist schools across Newcastle to seek a dedicated and enthusastic SEN Teaching Assistant.

About the role

1. Offer steady 1:1 support for a pupil with SEND and SEMH needs or working in a small group.
2. Follow individual education plans
3. Help create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
4. Support pupils in building social skills, confidence and emotional regulation.
5. Respond to challenging behaviour using a nurturing approach.
6. Work closely with the teachers, SENCO and outside professionals to support holistic development.

Requirements for the role as a SEN support assistant

7. Experience supporting children or young people, ideally with SEND

8. A calm, consistent approach to behaviour

9. Strong communication and empathy

10. A real passion for helping pupils achieve small wins that add up to big progress

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
