Role Responsibility

Windchimes offers overnight short breaks for children in Kent from the age of 5 to 18 years old, who have learning disabilities and/or Autism, and will have some additional support needs. These may include health related needs, behaviours of concern, and help with every day tasks. We always support children to have fun with their friends and peers, to learn skills, make choices, and to be supported in a safe and nurturing environment, so that they, and their families, can have a break.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a busy team providing a high standard of care for the children and young people that we support, work with own initiative as well as with guidance. Working at a fast pace, always ensuring the child/ young persons needs are kept paramount.

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who has:

1. To follow care plans whilst keeping them updated
2. Willing to work shift work as part of a rota.
3. To be able to create factual reports.
4. To be willing to undertake training and put theory to practice.
5. Proactive approach to own learning.
6. To communicate in an open honest manner
7. To organise and deliver new opportunities of recreational and social experiences for children and young people.
8. To have awareness of the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015
9. To have or willing to complete the Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
10. To be able to stay awake overnight ensuring the childrens safety.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Interviews will be conducted under the Choosing with Care assessment process which will take place on Wednesday 3rd September
