Placement Support worker - Childrens/Fostering - Fixed Term, BRIDGEND COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL

37 hours per week, 6 positions available, fixed term up to March 2028.

We are looking for committed, proactive individuals to join our Placement Support Team within Bridgend’s fostering service.
About the Role
The team is committed to trauma‑informed, relationship‑based practice and making a genuine difference every day.
Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 and group interventions to children, young people, and their carers.
* Support with crisis management, behaviour regulation, and placement planning.
* Work in partnership with social workers, foster carers, and families.
* Chair family network meetings and contribute to care planning.
* Provide continuity of support and advice to foster families.
* Participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota to support families.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Relevant Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards Level 4).
* Experience of direct work with children, young people, and families.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and current social care legislation.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
* A flexible, strengths‑based approach to support work.
* A driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
* Ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is required.
* Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
* Enhanced with Children & Adults Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is required.
* The council’s Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post.
* Weekend working and standby duties are required.
