Overview
Prospero Teaching is working with a Pupil Referral Unit in Salford. The unit supports students with additional needs and mental health issues.
Role
The role is classroom-based, providing mentoring and pastoral support to 11‑16 year old students in KS3/4 with EHCP plans and additional needs. You will build a connection with young people, act as a mentor and role model, and use mentoring skills similar to those employed in sports, drama and counselling to help pupils engage with the school.
Responsibilities
* Provide classroom and pastoral support to pupils who have experienced trauma, neglect, or chaotic home life.
* Forge strong relationships with pupils.
* Use mentoring skills to support student engagement and well‑being.
* Attend hours Mon – Fri (term time only).

Experience, Training and Qualifications
* Previous experience in a similar setting, SEMH or PRU.
* Level 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent and above is preferable.
* GCSE Maths and English and computer literate.
Eligibility Requirements
* Hold right to work in the UK.
* Hold an enhanced child‑barred list DBS certificate – registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
* Provide two professional child‑related references covering at least the last two years.
