Job overview
Office based in Rugeley, covering Stafford and surrounding areas.
Providing physiotherapy for all community stroke patients from hospital discharge and across the rehabilitation pathway.
Part of the Stafford ESD/Community Stroke Team within Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
Exciting training opportunities are available (e.g., Bobath, taping, FES, student educator training).
Key responsibilities
Clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, including:
* Organise and plan caseload, adjust plans as situations change.
* Advance assessment of patients with complex conditions; provide accurate diagnosis, prognosis and individualised treatment programme.
* Deliver therapeutic handling, patient education, exercise and advanced treatment options.
* Supervise assistant practitioners and students.
* Collect data for service audit and research projects.
* Use safety procedures when handling physiotherapy equipment and aids.
Communication duties include:
* Assess patient understanding, obtain consent and set goals.
* Provide comprehensive information on diagnosis, prognosis and recovery.
* Maintain accurate documentation and accurate data input.
Other duties:
* Provide specialist reports and support the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Participate in service development, operational planning and delegated projects.
* Maintain professional competence through CPD and reflective practice.
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
* HPC registration
* Evidence of relevant post‑graduate courses/CPD
Experience
* Current, practical experience in neuro rehabilitation management from post‑graduate training.
* Knowledge of community physiotherapy services.
* Experience working in MDT teams.
* Demonstrable supervisory experience.
Skills and aptitude
* Effective IT skills, including Microsoft Word and e‑mail.
* Ability to work under pressure and within an evolving team.
* Service development contribution and organisational skills.
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of neuro rehabilitation practice and research.
* Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
* Willingness to develop clinical skills and work both independently and supervised.
* Understanding of clinical governance and professional judgment.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Working knowledge of adult community service needs.
Flexibility
* Willingness to work across a 7‑day week as required.
* Support any team within the Walsall Integrated Stroke Service (including Cannock & Stafford).
* Travel frequently throughout Stafford and surrounding areas during the working day.
