Main duties of the job
As a Senior Nurse, I ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and visitors while adhering to all relevant policies, statutory requirements, and governance standards. I assess and manage risks, promote diversity and inclusion, and maintain safe staffing levels and skill mix. I supervise and support staff through CPD, training, appraisals, clinical supervision, and performance management, while also mentoring junior staff and student nurses. I implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions, support multidisciplinary working, and work collaboratively with patients to assess needs, manage risks, and develop person‑centred care plans. I act as a Named Nurse, regularly lead shifts, undertake designated lead roles within the ward, deputise for the Ward Manager when required, and contribute to staff recruitment, retention, and the delivery of high‑quality care in line with national and local standards.

Active Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council, meeting the requirements of Revalidation with at least 18 months to 2 years experience post‑registration.
This role is not suitable for newly qualified nurses or preceptorship nurses.
You will be working on the Secure ward, 28‑bedded.
