About the Role
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver mechanical systems that meet customer specifications and regulatory needs. The Engineer will provide subject matter expertise in mechanical engineering solutions, support continuous improvement of the design engineering capability, and work with designers within the team to create high‑quality solutions.
Key Duties
* Develop engineering solutions in conjunction with team designers.
* Check drawings and ensure compliance with technical standards.
* Produce CAD models and engineering drawings using Solid Edge.
* Prepare technical documents such as specifications, reports, manuals, and procedures.
* Authorise and verify technical documents and test specifications.
* Interpret technical specifications and data from internal and external sources.
* Use Teamcentre to manage engineering data and releases.
* Work within the change process to manage workload in a timely fashion.
* Carry out engineering problem solving related to internal and external issue management.
* Liaise with suppliers and act as a KNDS representative at customer review meetings.
* Apply engineering governance to project portfolio.
* Provide support for production, test, and field engineering teams and assist sales team with bids and quotations.
* Assist with continuous improvement of the design engineering capability.
What We’re Looking For
* Significant experience in design and development of mechanical systems.
* Medium to heavy engineering experience.
* Experience working for an organisation in the manufacturing industry.
* Understanding of the behaviour of large welded and bolted mechanical structures.
* Proven experience designing systems from original concept design, produced from a specification, through to production in a lead role.
* Excellent IT skills (MS Office and analysis tools).
* Hands‑on 3D CAD design expertise.
* Experience producing 2D technical drawings with working knowledge of GD&T.
* Working knowledge of PLM systems.
