What's involved with this role: Role: Communications Operator x8 Ref: JM BL 372720 Pay Rate: £14.10 per hour PAYE Hours: 37 hours per week - Monday-Friday Length of Contract: 6-8 with potential for extension Location: St Asaph, Cumbria FULLY OFFICE BASED Our client is currently seeking Communications Officers to join their team, with two upcoming start dates: 16th February 2026 – 4 positions 30th March 2026 – 4 positions This is an excellent opportunity to step into a fast-paced, highly responsible role within a critical public-facing service. The Communications Officer position involves providing a professional, effective and efficient customer service, resolving enquiries at the first point of contact wherever possible. You will work in a pressurised, reactive environment, using multiple systems to assess information, gather data, make recommendations, and direct resources appropriately. Key responsibilities include: Handling and resolving public enquiries with accuracy and professionalism. Providing clear advice while managing expectations appropriately. Analysing information systems to assess risk and identify the most suitable response. Recording detailed information across a range of computer platforms. Liaising with external agencies when necessary. Coordinating responses and directing appropriate units to incidents based on location, resource availability, and required skills. Maintaining accurate logs of incidents and communications. Scheduling appointments, updating records systems, and carrying out associated administrative tasks. Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners during events, busy periods, or major incidents. Ensuring compliance with policies relating to data protection, health & safety, and equality of opportunity. Essential Requirements: An NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a communication, business, or customer-focused field, or relevant experience. Ability to type 25–30 words per minute. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Intermediate computer literacy, including experience with Windows systems. Evidence of problem-solving skills. Ability to stay calm under pressure. Good geographical knowledge of North Wales. Welsh language ability – Level 3/4.
