Rapid Time Recruit working as an employemnt agency are seeking a Transport Planner on behalf of our client in the Knowsley area on a full time permenant basis.You will play a key part in the daily and weekly route planning for vehicles and drivers effectively within budgetary and legal constraints.
This is a permanent position with a very established company.
THE ROLE - Transport Planner
Our client is looking for a committed and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join their vibrant team on a perm basis, working full-time with 10-hour shifts from Monday - Friday, hours of work each week will be 18:00pm-04:00am. Hours may vary to suit operational needs.
** A deep understanding of the container industry and prior experience with container planning and port booking on and off systems is essential **.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in planning and optimizing transportation routes while ensuring efficient supply chain operations. This role demands strong analytical abilities, effective communication, and the capability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
Duties of a tranport palnner
* Adhering to planning timelines working closely with other departments and depots.
* Process incoming calls and enquiries from customers and amend transport plan & routes as appropriate.
* Brief drivers and liaise with them to ensure effective delivery / collections and route changes.
* Monitor legal compliance including EU drivers’ hours, digital tachographs and WTD.
* Achieving set KPI targets set out by the company.
* Maintain company core values of Honesty, Transparency and Unity.
* Maintaining support for all regions throughout the night shift from a centralised location.
* Maintain transport system administration to expected standard.
* Respond and assist with customer queries / issues / requirements.
* Interaction with Port and Rail Terminal systems to book accurate VBS times in a timely manner
* Regular communication with the operators and drivers
* Plan trucks and trailers to be available for service/inspection as advised by the Fleet Department
* Reporting to Nights Team Manager
Requirements
* Proven experience in transport planning within the container sector, is essential.
* Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication.
* Previous experience with operating systems - TOPS to book vehicles on/off Ports / VBS Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to manage client expectations.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
* Demonstrated leadership abilities with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.
* Strong IT skills, with a quick adaptability to new software and technologies.
* Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
