This role will provide tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients, manage a portfolio, support directors and partners, and seek new business opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Take full responsibility for project delivery on the portfolio.
* Provide clear, concise, and practical advice based on a strong understanding of technical complexities.
* Manage the portfolio of clients including billing and cash collection within firm criteria.
* Review work prepared by junior staff.
* Liaise with HMRC.
* Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets, inform directors/partners of overruns, and plan staff assignments.
* Ensure firm quality control procedures are adhered to, including second partner review.
* Identify risk and technical matters, and selling opportunities, and advise directors/partners.
* Provide overall support to directors/partners on client matters and assist in group management, including recruitment and staff management.
* Work as part of the management team with other tax managers and support the rest of the tax team.
* Actively participate in group management through team/manager/director meetings.
* Provide training, mentoring, and feedback to junior staff.
* Counsel, appraise, develop, and motivate staff.
* Recognize business development opportunities and work with directors/partners to develop them.
* Participate in bids and proposals for new work.
* Develop contact with clients at senior levels and maintain contact at all levels.
* Liaise between clients and other specialist service groups.
* Contribute presentations on internal courses.
* Work on own initiative.
* Consult with colleagues and directors on technical and risk matters.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level and/or CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent.
* Demonstrable post-qualified experience.
* Strong technical ability in the field of private client.
* Guide and supervise less experienced colleagues.
* Support, train, mentor, and advise others in own area.
* Challenge current practice, drive improvements and champion change.
* Take personal responsibility for own decisions and actions and those of others.
* Lead projects of limited scale or complexity.
