Job summary: An exciting opportunity within the Minor Injuries Unit in Horsham to work as a Band 7 Emergency Nurse Practitioner/Emergency Care Practitioner (ENP/ECP) providing Clinical and Professional Leadership and governance for staff in the allocated area.
This vacancy is a permanent role for 22.5 hours per week. The post holder will be accountable for the direct delivery of care to patients attending the Minor Injuries Unit, including assessing, requesting and interpreting diagnostic radiographs, diagnosing, treating and discharging or referring to other professionals.

Responsibilities
Main duties of the job: To ensure staff are clinically competent, services are clinically effective and safe, and an excellent patient experience is delivered. To embed interdisciplinary working and cross-skilling, including implementing competency frameworks. To support an audit plan in the appropriate clinical area and participate in research as appropriate to inform future service development. To ensure services develop in line with Trust transformation programmes and the SCFT Clinical Strategy. To develop key partnerships and enable effective whole-system working through communication and networking across professional boundaries. To work as an Autonomous Practitioner providing complete care packages to patients and to support other practitioners in defining standards of care and practice to improve quality of care. Liaise with senior staff regarding management and coordination of the Horsham Minor Injuries Unit including staff and consumables.
Further responsibilities include maintaining high standards of nursing care, leading and participating in nursing and clinical audits, applying local standards and policies, annual training needs analysis, ensuring evidence-based practice, maintaining medical and emergency equipment, and contributing to the development and education of the unit. You will model professional leadership and supervision, support professional development of the nurse team, and ensure responsibilities are carried out within risk management policies.
Key tasks include identifying and interpreting complicated conditions, planning activities within the unit, ensuring staff awareness of emergency procedures, leading care planning and discharge processes, assisting with duty rotas and ensuring a safe environment for patients, relatives, carers and staff. Flexibility to respond to daily demands and active participation in major incident planning where needed.
Qualifications and Professional Registration
Essential
* Completed and current RN registration with a live PIN on the NMC or HCPC register
* Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses / CPD and reflective practice relevant to clinical specialty
* Post-registration qualification or training to master’s level or equivalent and experience
* Management qualification or willingness to undertake
* Evidence of a range of clinical competencies appropriate for the role
Desirable
* Evidence of leadership education/development or a willingness to undertake
* Non-medical prescriber
* Minor ailments module
* Minor injuries module
Experience
* Essential: Minimum 2 years’ experience in an autonomous practice role
* Excellent interpersonal skills; leadership and management experience; significant postgraduate experience
* Experience providing clinical leadership to a team and supervising; experience in a multiprofessional team
* Desirable: experience delivering quality improvement, innovation and productivity; participation in audits and clinically relevant research
Skills and Knowledge
* Advanced reasoning and assessment skills across treatments and management of conditions
* IT skills (databases, Excel, Word, internet)
* Leadership, delegation and empowerment in practice
* Ability to create complex care plans; knowledge of clinical governance, audit, supervision and professional codes
* Promote independence and choice in patient care management; safeguarding knowledge and DoLs
* Understanding of public health, making every contact count, staff issues escalation, and learning environment creation
Other Requirements
* Ability to travel between sites; car owner/driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes
