Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Delivery to lead the end-to‑end execution of EV charging site development and construction programmes. This senior leadership role oversees all aspects of project delivery — from pre‑construction and design through to commissioning and handover — ensuring operational excellence, safety, quality, and compliance at every stage.

The Director of Delivery will head multiple delivery functions, managing teams responsible for both site development and delivery operations. The role requires strong leadership, exceptional programme management capability, and the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

This individual will own the full delivery pipeline, ensuring that all projects meet agreed service levels and regulatory standards. They will also serve as the organisation’s accountable person for HSEQ compliance, maintaining rigorous systems and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and performance excellence across all operational areas.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

* Lead, motivate, and develop multi‑disciplinary teams across project delivery and solutions functions.
* Provide clear direction, set measurable goals, and ensure accountability across teams.
* Mentor senior managers and build capability through coaching, development, and succession planning.
* Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

* Act as the organisation’s accountable person for health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
* Ensure robust systems, processes, and standards are in place to deliver full compliance and industry best practice.
* Drive a culture of safety awareness, risk mitigation, and quality assurance across all projects.

Programme & Project Delivery

* Oversee the full lifecycle of EV infrastructure projects, from initial design and planning through construction and go‑live.
* Lead resource planning, project scheduling, and delivery tracking to ensure on‑time, on‑budget completion.
* Use data and KPIs to monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement.
* Act as final decision authority for major project delivery milestones and sign‑offs.

Strategic & Operational Planning

* Develop and implement scalable strategies that support growth, sustainability, and operational excellence.
* Translate company objectives into actionable, measurable delivery plans.
* Continuously review and enhance delivery frameworks to improve efficiency and quality.

Financial & Contract Management

* Own departmental budgets and ensure effective cost management across delivery programmes.
* Oversee supplier, vendor, and contractor relationships, ensuring commercial performance and service quality.

Stakeholder Engagement

* Serve as a senior point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project scope, timelines, and outcomes.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally to integrate delivery with broader operational and commercial goals.

Reporting & Performance

* Provide regular progress updates to senior leadership, highlighting key metrics, risks, and mitigation actions.
* Monitor KPIs to identify improvement opportunities and ensure continuous performance optimisation.

Process & Risk Management

* Lead initiatives to improve delivery processes, project governance, and operational readiness.
* Identify and mitigate risks to timelines, budgets, and quality proactively.
* Embed best practices and innovation across project delivery.

Business Growth & Leadership Contribution

* Contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance network performance, asset utilisation, and customer experience.
* Support company‑wide initiatives to improve culture, engagement, and operational capability.
* Play an active role in the senior leadership team, influencing business direction and execution.

Experience & Qualifications

* 10–15 years of leadership experience within infrastructure delivery, asset management, or operations.
* Proven track record managing large‑scale, multi‑site capital delivery programmes.
* Strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance frameworks (NEBOSH or IOSH qualification advantageous).
* Background in construction or engineering project management (EV or electrical infrastructure experience preferred but not essential).
* Expertise in contract management, supply chain performance, and financial governance.
* Skilled in developing and leading high‑performing, cross‑functional teams.
* Strong strategic, analytical, and decision‑making skills with a data‑driven mindset.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
