This is an excellent opportunity for a support worker to work alongside a client in Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk. The client is a gentleman in his 50s who lives in his own accommodation with 24-hour care and requires support with various daily activities due to an acquired brain injury.


Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and engaging with the client's personalized routines, completing daily living activities, administering medication, providing emotional support, and collaborating with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care. The role requires excellent communication skills, compassion, reliability, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job responsibilities

We have an excellent opportunity for a support worker to work alongside our client in Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk.

Our client is a gentleman in his 50s who lives in his own accommodation with 24-hour care. He enjoys photography, film, motorbikes, sailing, and has recently started to cook his own meals with support. Due to an acquired brain injury, he has speech and language issues and requires support with mobility, medication, accessing the community, and attending appointments. He has been known to suffer seizures but has not had one since 2022. He also has an extensive daily physiotherapy program supported by a physiotherapist at his residence.

Due to the client's support needs, the successful candidate can be either female or male, must be a non-smoker, have a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle, be a clear English communicator, be comfortable working with an engaged family, be physically capable, and a confident cook. They should also possess soft skills such as clear communication, motivation, and the ability to build a supportive relationship with the client.

Hours: 24 hours per week over two days (08:00 - 20:00 with sleep-ins)


Key Responsibilities

* Supporting and engaging with personalized routines, including hoists.
* Completing daily living activities, including personal hygiene and mobility.
* Administering medication and monitoring health conditions.
* Providing emotional support and companionship.
* Maintaining accurate records of care and reporting changes in the client's condition.
* Collaborating with healthcare professionals and family members for comprehensive care.

Qualifications

* The ideal candidate should have a genuine passion for working with people, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a compassionate and empathetic nature, and previous experience in a similar role, preferably in complex care.
